Comodo wants to verify that you're active in your registered location

The Locality Presence requirement is a part of Organization Validation. Comodo is going to try to verify that your business has an active legal presence in its registered location. What this means that you have to an active physical presence in that locality. Comodo doesn't need to verify your actual street address, just the town or city and state in the address.

How do I satisfy the Locality Presence requirement?

To complete this step in the validation process Comodo is going to check your registration information in your local online government database. It will check the details listed in the government database against the details you provided and make sure they match. Again, that's why it's so important to make sure everything is correct in your CSR. We even have a tool that can decode your CSR so you can double-check. Any mistake will cause a delay in issuance.

My registration information isn't publicly available

This isn't a problem. Comodo will also allow you to submit your own registration information. It just has to be issued by the government. Documents like articles of incorporation of chartered licenses should suffice here.

Additional Methods for satisfying Locality Presence

In addition to providing your own registration information you can also choose to provide a professional opinion letter or a Dun & Bradstreet credit report.

Professional Opinion Letters are documents that have been produced by a legally registered attorney or accountant that vouch for the legitimacy of your business.
Dun & Bradstreet is a financial organization that does financial reporting on other businesses. Providing a DUNS credit report will satisfy the Locality Presence requirement.
