Do I keep the same certificate when renewing SSL?
You can replace your expiring SSL certificate with whatever new certificate you want
You don't have to keep the same SSL certificate when renewing. Maybe you want to upgrade to extended validation. Maybe you need to add functionality like a Wildcard or Multi-Domain. No problem. When you renew SSL, you can replace your expiring certificate with any SSL your heart desires.
Can I upgrade my SSL certificate?
Absolutely! Whether you're currently using a Domain Validation certificate and want to add business authentication, or if you've added a sub-domain-you can upgrade during renewal no problem. Just indicate that you're performing a renewal while generating your Certificate Signing Request and you'll be good to go.
Can I change Certificate Authorities when I renew?
Of course. We will honor the time remaining on any expiring SSL certificate-regardless of who issued it. Just select that you're performing a renewal while generating your Certificate Signing Request and we will issue your renewal certificate in no time.
Do I have to undergo Validation if I change certificates?
It depends on what type of certificate you're ordering. If you go up a validation level, you'll have to undergo that validation. And if you change Certificate Authorities you'll have to undergo validation. However, if you're replacing your expiring certificate with the same certificate or a comparable one, Comodo will re-use your old validation information to save you time.
Do I have to generate a new CSR?
Usually. Most Microsoft, Tomcat and Java servers require it. So, do most firewalls and digital applications. Also, if you're changing certificates or aren't already a ComodoSSLstore customer, you'll need to generate one. So yes, probably.
Ok, I'm ready to renew!
Perfect. If you're an existing customer, just log in to your control panel. If not, just shop like you normally would and then notify one of our SSL experts prior to checkout. They'll walk you through the rest.
